The dark atmosphere, the rain and the gothic architecture work perfectly together with actor Brandon Lee and his performance. I really think he did a great job showing the pain, anger and hate his character Eric Draven feels.
I love the movie for the perfect combination of great music and atmosphere. The Songs by The Cure, Helmet, Rage or Nine Inch Nails are awesome on their own. Combined with the movie they are incredable.
If you think of the death of Brandon Lee when the movie during the production of the movie it feels weird. Maybe he came back back too accompaigned by a crow seeking revenge :-). Well, weird is the wrong word. Let's say it makes you think about how special the movie is. Brandon Lee was the son of Bruce Lee. He died too young and too soon.
His death and also the stories about his death made the movie very well known. To make one thing clear. The scene where he got killed was never included in the movie. I don't know who came up with this but I think nobody would ever think anyone was sick enough to do this. It is not true and don't let anyone tell you something different.
There also was a lot of guessing on how he died. Some say he was connected to the Mafia, some say his father was, some say it was the fault of the guy who prepared the guns, some say it was just a tragic accident. For me it was just tragic, no matter what really happened. I don't know it either.
The second part of The Crow was a total disaster in my eyes. The first part at least tried to include some plot. The second part is only people dying one after the other.. The director of the movie didn't even try to build suspense. OK, the end of the movie is not so bad, but forget about what happens until he reaches the Boss of the Gang. I really looked forward for the second part. I went to a Double-Feature showing the first and the second part. I really enjoyed the first part. Then came the second. It sucked. But hey, the Soundtrack is very good. At least something. Iggy Pop also played in the movie ( Guess what, he died too!!!), Hole, PJ Harvey and Bush made great music.
I really have to admit that the movie had one highlight. Mia Sara plays the female part and she is beautiful. But unfortunately this is not enough for a movie. I don't expect too much from an action movie, but I expected more from The Crow City of Angels. Ok, enough about the movie. Here is what you came here for.
